Scarborough is the seaside town in North Yorkshire where Cecilia and Daniel first meet as children in July 1889. It is the location for Chapter 13 of Volume One, "Serch Bythol".
The action returns to Scarborough in Chapter 17 of Volume Two, "Inner Magnets".
The Grand Hotel figures prominently in the Scarborough chapters, as well as Scarborough Castle.
The town is the setting for Simon and Garfunkel's classic, "Scarborough Fair".
